I was %100 sure before I posted this that some of members on this site will criticize this as usual and others will support you. You are against everything about turkey, not only Ataturk. you and some of your friends keeps accusing Ataturk all the time. why are u always looking for something else behind nice things??? There are Ataturk pictures everywhere coz turkish ppl loves him and sees him as a national leader. Everybody knows that Ataturk loved children and he often said: "Children are a new beginning of tomorrow". that s why he dedicated this important day "new beginning og Turkish Republic" to Children. Ataturk did everything for this country he didnt want anything for himself.

And I wonder too, why admin supports those members who keep attacking all national things about Turkey. It s not freedom of speech. it s just an insult. what a shame!

I do hope you are not becoming paranoid. I have searched and searched this short thread and can see no other posts supporting Azade's comments. I do not believe Admin is trying to support any particular opinion...merely trying to keep the forum open to ALL opinions instead of unnecessarily over-moderating and treating us like...(I will hold my tongue and say "children".)

Ataturk loved children? Have you ever met anyone who didn't!? lol

Jannissary. I can only speak for myself, but I do not support Azade's comments. Her comments are a little negative, but I don't find it insulting. I also try to look at her perspective. She is a foreigner that has lived/is living in Kurdish area of Turkey. Her perspective of this holiday would be what she hears from those she is surrounded by. Again, I don't agree with her, but she said nothing that deserves censoring.

I think u are new on this site. if so, u dont know anything about these members or what s going on here. maybe u are an old member with a different nickname. I dont care. coz there are many. whatever I post about turkey and turkish culture, same members post their comments about it with an insult. I posted this coz today is an national festival of children. Azade is trying to say this day is for children to make them praise for ataturk. not me but she is being paranoid maybe u dont know but there is a group on this site who support each other. they have moderators and they can say whatever they want. they answer for each other.

I wanted to share this celebration with everybody as a turkish citizen. but as usual they find something to criticize. coz we are "narrow-minded".

.........

Tarihten eski yaşım,(older than history i am)
Harpte eğilmez başım,(i know no defeat in war)
Toplar can yoldaşımdır,(cannons my bosom friend)
Silahlar arkadaşım.(rifles my friend)

And somehow the nice post or at least the post that supposed to attract attention to this part of Turkish culture is turning into a political debate and mutual accusations.
I hope that children have fun today. All

This sounds rather condescending to Azade. If her perspective is from the Kurdish areas in Turkey, does it make it less valid? If so, this implies that Kurdish-Turkish are less important than Kemalists from Ankara and Istanbul!

Not condescending. Everyone's perspective is valid.

I don't believe anyone considers you narrow minded. However, from what I have read, your posts seem to mostly include references to your own political ideals and seem somewhat nationalistic. For some, this can be hard to stomach...

I don't hide it. My turkish politics lean towards Kemalism. My views are biased just as all our views are biased.

Janissary is a Turk so is it something strange that he refers in his post to national history and heritage.Nationalistic????Perhaps patriotic???Ahhh, everybody who is proud of his own country must be a nationalist and ksenophob I forgot how easy is to judge..and for those who have problems with digestion...herbs...herbs...herbs
