Hello all,
I hope we are all well here? just thought I would update you all from my new home in Istanbul and let you know what I have been doing.

On Saturday 16th June I attended the English Summer Fete held at the consulate near Taskim it was a nice hot day plenty of sunshine and the Fete was good. I met a few English people there and made some new friends, a couple who have just moved barely two weeks ago to Istanbul the man having came here with his work. We are going to keep in touch with them and invite them over for a meal sometime.

I have been studying to achieve a TEFOL certificate but I am interested in other work apart from this and hope soon something will turn up, it is nearly two months without anything positive although I have tried.

We decided to have a little kitten to keep me company during the days and she is only about 11 weeks old and keeps me busy. I am hoping to come to England for a short trip if the flight prices come down. My Turkish is better than it was and I am learning all the time and picking conversations up although I still find it hard to converse.

We had a bomb near us on Sunday 17th June although we have not visited this cafe before we have passed it many times. If anyone is visiting Istanbul I am here until July and then back after towards end of July. The weather is getting hotter currently today is 31C or 87F Best wishes all from Istanbul

Merhaba Rich,

So glad to hear you are getting on well in your new home!!!

Wow, a little kitten how nice. My sister just returned from down south and brought home a stray kitten (she is always feeding strays. I think they sense she is kind, and good and will take care of them.) With our new kitten, he is a boy, we have a total of two cats and our dog

You will find great comfort and company with your new little addition. Did you name it yet?

So glad you and Nisren were not affected physically by the blast on Sunday.

Take care and keep the updates coming!!!

Wendy and Yilmaz

Good to hear you are starting to settle in, perhaps you should write an essay about your experiences!

I completely agree! Experiences of Turkey by a man who moved there permanently from England, it would be a very interesting read!
Thank you for the update Rich, wish you all the best. Glad to hear that you are settling down. OMG, what was that bomb though?! That's horrible! Did anyone get injured?

Hey Rich, Hope you find a job soon. Maybe the guy you met who just moved to Turkey maybe he has some leads for you. Just try to network...good luck and stay safe.

Hi Wendy and Yilamz,
Hope you are both well? yes we got a little kitten from my new sister in law to keep me company while I am at home, I named her Daisy Duke after the actress Catherine Bach who played her in the Dukes Of Hazzard (do you remember this programme Wendy?).

Of course I will keep updating as much as I can and you also
Take care best wishes Rich & Nes

I would of course write an essay when I have more time to spend on computer we were going to Nes mums today but she has friends coming so have little spare time. I think there was some slightly injured people in the blast but thankfully not serious.
Best wishes from both of us
