Have just returned from Spain and was staying in a resort where the visitors were 99% German. I soon became Public Enemy Number One after being the only person to cheer for Turkey in the semi final (which they SHOULD HAVE WON!). The Spanish were supporting Turkey but too polite (or scared) to cheer for them amongst so many Germans!

I really wish I could be there for the final, if only to watch the Spanish bar staff struggling with the dilemma of whether to cheer for Spain or lose their gratuities from the German tourists for the week....should be very interesting! (Also because the Spanish bar owner promised free drinks until dawn in the event of a victory)

VIVA ESSSSSPANNNNNNNIAAAAAAAAAA

I have to ask? How should Turkey have won???
All the goals by both teams were great goals. And I will even admit that the winning goal in the 89th minute was awfully gratuitous. But how should they have won? Germany held the lead at 1:0 and 2:1. Turkey of course had its chances but Germany did control play for the most part.
I do wish Turkey would have been full strength for the match but such as life. I am very proud of how Turkey played, but Germany played well enough to win and should systematically dispose of Spain tonight.

Deutschland, Deutschland über alles....

At the same time, it's ridiculous to stereotype and say that 'Germans are so cold'. The blatant lie of this stereotype is especially exposed when you see that German team is not only made up of Germans, there are 3 Polish players in it for example.

I know, I don't think all germans are cold people (I heard that southern germans are warmer ), but compared to Turkish or some other team, after the goal, they hug each other very coldly. Ah yes, and the polish, we can include them in that anyway.

Well, apart from the first 15 minutes, they were out-played by Turkey.

Having spent more time than I ever care to with Germans these last two weeks, maybe I am now biased against them

Sorry but it's true!!! And what is it with Germans and sunbeds? They make up so many rules!!!!! You have to be by the pool at 6am and towels placed on the sunbed of choice and unless your parasol is opened, anyone can take it. Additional tables should be placed on the sunbed concerned, otherwise they will be taken too. The biggest offence is to innocently take a "favourite" sunbed from another person. This will mean being completely ignored and hated by all other Germans until you rectify the situation by giving up your sunbed to the "regular".

Failure to wake at 6am and go through this self-imposed German ritual means you will be unable to enjoy the pool at any time the next day.

Of course....Germans like to reserve these beds, but dont actually use them often...sometimes appearing at around 3pm the following day.

Rule no. 394. You may speak to Germans in German, but if they find out your are english forget it! I was talking to a German lady one day and, smiling, she asked me "are you Swedish"? "No, I am English". Her smile dropped..."oh I see" and she walked away!!!!!!!!!

Lovely

It's just a fact that as a Dutch you are against Germany during football. I don't like being politically correct so Im glad Spain won

The reason I wouldn't want Germany to win is because they don't play 'beautiful' football. They can win without playing good.
