"The Sivas massacre (Turkish: Sivas Madımak Olayı or Sivas Katliamı refers to the events of July 2, 1993 which resulted in the deaths of 37 Alevi intellectuals. The victims, who had gathered for a cultural festival in Sivas, Turkey, were killed when a mob of radical Islamists set fire to the hotel where the group had assembled."
OMG.... seems like this kind of massacres are not isolated events in Turkey, since I don't think this group of Alevis was the only one to be burnt in a hotel in the name of the religion of love and peace.
Really tragic and despicable...

My country have got lots of bruises (Alevi-sunni, kurt-turk, sagci-solcu, laik-islamcı ) unfortunately. The bruises that bloods everytime when it stimulated. And these bruises stimulated by dark hands which have got some interests on chaos. Therefore when you making some speculations about these matters firstly "your hands must be under the stone" otherwise we say it "hariçten gazel okumak kolay" means to "its very easy to sing from outside". Secondly you must well know countries culture, life, religion, political history, peoples relations etc. etc. Otherwise i understand these speculations "Hey! look at these barbarians how are they burning each other, shame on you!". Please lets be more careful when we making some speculations or making new threads about a countries internal conflicts which we have got no idea about its reality. I know that I have been some touchy but these are my feelings at first read. Also, I believe that nobody can take others life that Allah gave him, but Allah.

I don't think this is what Roswitha's intent at all. It was mearly pointing out the anniversary of a tragic event that took place in your country.
I think it's even worse to try to diminimize the post. No one has said your country sucks. The reality is it happened and let's show some respect to the people that were lost and their familys who were affected. What I do find appauling is that the victims were there for a cultural festival..innocent people. In the name of Allah..my ass.
Most people are well aware that we ALL have crazies in our own countries.

Speculation..
When you look for the definition, you get:
noun
1. a message expressing an opinion based on incomplete evidence [syn: guess]
2. a hypothesis that has been formed by speculating or conjecturing (usually with little hard evidence); "speculations about the outcome of the election"; "he dismissed it as mere conjecture"
Is it the same speculation are you talking about?
what is 'missing evidence' in this incident?
What dark forces?
can you see any dark forces in this incident than 'so called muslims' BURNED THE INTELLECTS alive?
'A country's internal conflict and we have got no idea':
Please realize that I am a TURK.
And I am talking about my OWN Country.
'Hands under the stone issue':
Since you had your hands under the stones, have you done anything about it?
A song from edip akbayram for this incident:

You`re right, this kind of things do happen. The last instance was in Germany when 10 Turks got burnt by the Christian nazis(aka the Christian people of love and peace). Ironically, these 10 people were Alevis too. Tragic, isn`t it.

It`s funny how you condemn the Sivas massacre and at the same time praise the bloody murderers (aka tayyip and his gang)who killed these 37 people and more.

I watched the video a bit, in fact there it seems that these fanatics were not particularly only against the alevis but rather against the atheists, and "Islam enemies". Aziz Nesin was called as a demon. Aziz Nesin tells that he is not muslim and he does not have to be. In a radical islamist newspaper, he was shown as a target for his speeches not being muslim, and people (without brain and self decision) were provocated against him and all others...It's surprising that these people could become 2000O in a while!
The most thing I hate about my country people that they do not respect and tolerate people saying things against religion, and criticize it. You have to be courageous to publicly state that you are not muslim or/and you do not believe in god. You are seen as a insulter. Here in France, you can criticize publicly the religion, and noone becomes violent and they respect your ideas whether they are believers or not.
Whatever his idea or status is first respect his life, his right to live, I think this is called real civilization.
