I found out about that Amsterdamconcert when it was already sold out

I guess nearly all of the spectators were the Turks living there, or is she known outside Turkey? How did you know her?

But as you had mentioned before, you're turkish yourself and that's why your husband knows her. I want to see if foreigners themselves find out about her.

I'm a foreigner, from Los Angeles, California, USA. When we do searches for Turkish music, the top 2 are Sezen Aksu and Tarkan.

It does not matter if one can understand Turkish, Sezen has a beautiful distinguishable voice that is nice to listen to emotionally moving.

What is better looking? :-S Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, does not last forever, but her talent and accomplishments are life long.

Sezen Aksu is unknown among people in Holland. Only the ones with strong connections know her, the ones who go on Antalya-holidays have never heard of her.

My friends do like Tarkan and Mustafa Sandal if they listen my ipod, but they skip all Sezen's songs. I really think you need to have a more eastern feeling inside yourself, to love Sezen Aksu's music. My friends really wonder how i can keep up listening to her, they find her voice tiring and very annoying.

Sezen Aksu might be known among the educated people who are very interested in music from all over the world. But if you would go to a music shop here and ask for Turkish music, they would come up with Tarkan or Sertab Erener. Turkish folkmusic is not SO easy to find here. If you type Sezen Aksu in the musiclibrary, you get only ONE cd, which is a MIXED cd and contains only ONE song of her.

I learnt to know Sezen Aksu from Kadir, obviously. The first Turkish song he sent me was Gemiler by Teoman. I was sold, loved it so much. Then he tried Ikinci Bahar by Sezen, which is still one of my favourites. Sinanay was the second of her i got to know, he thought i would love it because he said the music sounded as funky as me

Nowadays, if i go to the Turkish restaurant where i had a job last summer, i notice i know all Sezen's songs and can sing along more than the turkish workers there

Sezen is AMAZING!!
I got to know her looking for turkish music on the internet . I am from Chile so she is completely unknown here (what a pity they don't know what they are missing out!) but yes I agree with someone who said that you must have one "eastern" feeling inside yourself to love Sezen's music because when I listen to her my family think it is so weird (they just listen to spanish and anglo music)
At first she was not my favorite but the more I listen to her , the more I like her music!!
and she is so beloved by turks of ALL AGES!!!... she is the queen what a pity she WILL NEVER come to south america!

My favorite songs by her are :
"ağlamak güzeldir' (absolutely wonderul)
and 'Sarı Odalar' and yes I have watched the vıdeo on youtube !
I don't know how but I have to attend to one Sezen's concert ANYWHERE ın the world somehow or another!!!!
I also love Barış Manço !!!!!!! he was and ıs the best!!
I wrote long because I love turkısh musıc so much!!!...
Greetıngs ,
Dilara.
