Please can someone explain .. in this message ´Konsolosluktan´ would mean ´Received FROM the Consulate´ rather than ´Received BY the Consulate´ >>?
Yet the translation makes sense. Is this a colloquial use of ´-tan´?

"781 takip numarasıyla başvuru yapmış olduğunuz gönderiniz konsolosluktan teslim alınmıştır."

Translation:-

´The consulate has received your submission, made with application tracking number 781.´

However, in turkish "from" and "by" are sometimes interchangeable. Here, I think it´s same as "it has been received by the consolute".

Forexample "Tarafımızdan teslim alınmıştır" is commonly used. "konsolosluktan" might be a short form of "konsolosluk tarafından" in the passive form.

Though I´m not sure. It can sometimes become trickable.

I did the original translation and I really wasn´t sure!!

I thought like this:
It was your cargo packet: gönderiniz.
So it had to be received by the Consulate (as explained above by meltem).

If it had been sent by the Consulate, then it wouldn´t be gönderiniz.

BUT as there is a conflict here, one may be a typo.

I assumed the person who asked for translation, and therefore knew the context (were we talking about something they had sent to the Consulate - more usual as you send them an application form with documents for visa - or something they were expecting to receive from the Consulate?) would be able to see if it was wrong.

I think it was written by the consulate and I think the consulate is using a bad Turkish. I guess what they are trying to say is this:

"The package with the tracking number 781 which includes your application has been received by our consulate".

They should have written it this way:

"Başvurunuzu içeren 781 takip numaralı gönderiniz konsolosluğumuz tarafından teslim alınmıştır."

Meltem is correct. By "konsolosluktan" they are trying to say "konsolosluğumuz tarafından". This is not a shorter form. It is just bad language. Employees at consulates are usually people who have lived in that foreign country for too long and have forgotton Turkish.
