falan is a strange word. In which context is it commonly used? Please give some examples

Falan is arabic, in arabic we use it when we dont wanan say a persons name , or were giving an example  of something like falan we falan (a person and a person)

or falan told me that.......

or it could take the emaning of such and such etc etc

but i dont know how they use it in turkish...

We use that mean as well.

 

And also it used as "et cetera" informally.

Hmmm so you say like i want this this and faln falan?

U know we actually pronounce it mor like fulan than falan but its really close

 For example we say, kitap falan aldım..

 

And also, it can be used combined with filan, as falan filan, and you can use it like blah blah:

 

Sonra konuştuk falan filan, ve işi tatlıya bağladık.

1 .     Söylenmesi istenmeyen veya gerekli görülmeyen bir özel adın yerini tutan kelime, filan:

Falan...falan filan, vesaire vesaire, şey...ve....veya (ya da) ...belki...ama...şu ya da bu..., o ya da bu..., öyle ya da böyle..., şöyle ya da böyle..., yani..., bu demektir ki...öyle bir şey ki...diyeceğim şu ki..., oysa ki...,kaldı ki...laf olsun diye..., iyi de..., öyle olsun..., ha demiş ha dememiş..., ha olmuş ha olmamış...vb.

I´d appreciate a short explanation!  All synonyms for ´falan, filan´?? Obviously not. Please explain. We´re here to learn, not to be left with questions.....

An example:

 

Pazardan ne aldın?

Elma falan aldım.

 

What did you buy from the market?
I bought apples and such (no need to explain them all, its just clear you probably bought mainly fruits)

 

İstanbul´da neler gezdiniz?

İstiklal Caddesi´ni falan gezdik

 

What did you (sight)see in İstanbul?

We walked around Istiklal Caddesi and such (and all the other things that tourist generally go to see in istanbul, other touristic sights)
