Hello, everybody! I would like to ask you sth.

The different cases can be established by asking the appropriate questions for them. How would you translate Neresi, Kimde, Nede, Kime, Neye, Kimi, Neyi, Neresini... and respectively burasi, burada, bunda,buna, bunlara.... I cannot find them in the dictionary in the forms they have here. I would be very grateful if sb applies example sentences to their answer! Thank you!

 Think of it like this:

Kim: Who

Kime: To whom

Kimde: With whom

Kimden: From whom

The states for questions are the exact same as the states of nouns.

Nerede - (At) Where

Nereden - From Where

Nereye - To Where

Kim - Who

Kimde - With/By Who

Kime - To Who

Kimden - From Who

And likewise for all other question words. (mi hariç

When you have verbs that require their objects to be in a certain state, that´s the state the question word takes on.

1. Örnek:

- Ahmet gitti - Ahmet left

- Kim gitti? - Who left?

Gitmek doesn´t have a state (tecinically it´s yalın halı but boş ver ) so kim is kept in it´s base form.

2. Örnek:

- Ahmet´e koştu - He ran towards Ahmet

- Nereye/Kime koştu? - Where/Who did he run to?

3. Örnek

Seni seviyor - (s)he likes you

Kimi seviyor? - Who does (s)he like?

In order to figure which state of the question to use, try the sentence with a noun and copy the state it has to the question word you want, as done above.

The same rules apply to pronouns, such as Burada, burası, buraya, buradan, bunları, bunlara, bunlardan, vb.:

- Ahmet´ten hoşlanıyor - She loves Ahmet

- Bunlardan hoşlanıyor - (s)he loves these

- Buradan hoşlanıyor - [forgive how contrived this is] He loves this spot.

 I think you" recall the noun cases as:

Noun   (nominative)

Noun + -a (Dative)

Noun + -i  (Accusative)

Noun + -de (locative)

Noun +-den (ablative)

For example:

Likewise, for every question, we use these suffixes:

For the nominative nouns we use Ne / Kim / Hangi - what, who, which

for the dative nouns we use use Neye / Nereye / Kime / Hangisine - where to, to who, to which?

for the accusative nouns we use Neyi / Kimi / Hangisini / Nereyi ,what, Who, which

for the locative nouns we use Neye /  Nerede / Kimde / Hangisinde - where, who, which one

for the ablative nouns we use Nereden / Kimden / Hangisinden - from where, from who, from which

Likewise, with the nouns with possessive pronoun suffix (-in) we ask:

Neyin, Kimin, Hangisinin, Nerenin

So, the answer always comes with the same suffixes..

burası, burasını, burasına, burasında, burasından, burasının

OK. Here’s my try from a different angle.

You should have some idea of how to make question sentences from regular sentences. Take a regular sentence and try to turn it to a question sentence. It is very easy in Turkish because you keep the same order and you only need to know how to replace the words with q-words.

Here is a list:

Dün Can’la İstanbul’a gittiniz.

Ne zaman Can’la İstanbul’a gittiniz? (Dün -> Ne zaman)

Dün Kimle İstanbul’a gittiniz? (Can -> Kim)

Dün Can’la nereye gittiniz? (İstanbul -> Nere)

Dün Can’la ne yaptınız? Or Dün ne yaptınız? (İstanbul’a gitmek -> Ne yapmak) or (Can’la İstanbul’a gitmek -> Ne yapmak)

And all at once:

Ne zaman kimle nereye gittiniz? Or Ne zaman kimle ne yaptınız?

İkinci çocuğumuz Haseki’de doğdu.

Kaçıncı çocuğumuz Haseki’de doğdu? (İki -> Kaç )

İkinci nemiz Haseki’de doğdu. (Çocuk -> Ne)

İkinci çocuğumuz nerede doğdu? (Haseki -> Nere)

İkinci çocuğumuz ne oldu? (Haseki’de doğmak -> Ne olmak)

İkincisini tamamlarken işler iyi gidiyor.
