Ankara - Nuri Demirci has lived in the cave house all his life remembering well the changeover from oil lamps to neon lighting but now the 63-year-old man wants to sell the dwelling because the climb up the steep path has become too cumbersome for his wife Scherife and himself.
For centuries the local inhabitants in the Turkish region of Kapadokia between the Anatolian towns of Kayseri, Aksaray and Nigde have built their homes by digging caves into the tuff rock. Entire towns emerged in the underground.
