Anyway, I am not interested in metal detecting in Turkey!!! I just wondered why it was bizarrely banned!

 

The only thing you are allowed to take home from Turkey when you leave is a toyboy!  But you may have to be an antique yourself to get one!

Actually, Turkey has very strick rules about removing artifacts from their country.  Many Turkish relics have been stolen and put on display in foreign countries and the Turkish government has been engaged in quite a few legal battles to get them back.  Perhaps they feel like with a metal detector, it is possible to find some ancient artifact and take it out of Turkey.
