The story:

About a young couple, living in Bulgaria in the town of Kircaali (Bulgarians still call it kardzali bizaarly)...

The boy´s name is Recep and the girl is called Zeynep. They love eachother and determined to get married..

But a son of  a rich man, called Ismail, has an eye on the girl as well..

Because he is quite wealthy and the girls´ mothers like rich son-in-laws (naturally), when Ismail opens his intentions to Zeynep´s mother, she agrees to collaborate with him..Recep gets quite upset (naturally of course) and confronts Ismail the rich. Then, he some how gets exiled from the village by  Ismail´s men..

The mother and Ismail spread lies and gossips about Recep afterwards. They persuade Zeynep in the end to get married with Ismail as the rumors were about How Recep loved another girl and that was why he was not in the village anymore..

But Recep somehow manages to evade from his enemies and comes back.. But he just makes it after the wedding..When he learns about what has happened, he commits suicide (in the river, called Arda).

When Recep´s body comes into the shore eventually, Zeynep makes this folk song..

i hate these love stories. our culture is full of them. these stories always existed and songs were sung. but we backward people never learn a lesson from such tragedies and keep to our traditions and customs killing next romeos and juliets. and possibly will be doing this in the next 500 years.
