Hi All

Please can someone give me any good airlines to travel to Ankara from London that are cheap and not huge stop overs in Istanbul.

Thanks

Cheryl

As far as I am aware, there are no direct flights to Ankara from London.  I have just returned, and I flew Easyjet from Gatwick to Istanbul (Sabiha Goken) then Pegasus to Ankara (6 hour wait between these two flights).  Return there was a 4 hour wait.   The whole journey cost around £160 each return, which is much cheaper than the Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul alone.  I think there are also flights from and to Luton (Easyjet) and Stansted (Pegasus)

We actually found the wait quite OK but there is not a bundle to do in Sabiha Goken airport - takes all of two minutes to walk from end to end and only 3 or4 places to eat or drink (and these are small places).

The direct flight used to be from Heathrow (BA or Turkish Airlines) to Damascus in Syria with a stop over in Ankara.  When we flew like this before it was a nightmare - 29 hour delay going out due to airplane breakdown and 24 hour coming back due to over booking from Syria.

Yes it was BMI, but I booked the flight with BA and in the meantime BMI took over the franchise........ rather chaotically I think.  So I had forgotten who I had flown with until you reminded me.

What I was going to suggest was why not fly to Istanbul and spend a couple of days there (get over the flight <img src='/static/images/smileys//lol.gif' alt='lol'> , then fly to Ankara (only 45 min).  That is what we would have done had we had enough time.
