Man ambushes, kills wife and in-laws in fit of rage

Six people are dead in Zonguldak´s Çaycuma district after a man allegedly shot his estranged wife and five of her relatives to death.

That is the news:

http://www.todayszaman.com/t...aws-in-fit-of-rage.html

This is a young guy returned back from the army 1,5 years ago and he was a commando in the army (He was in the east of Turkey, in the middle of the war)..

Apparently his main topics in the coffee houses were about the war in the east, about how they would ambush pkk members and kill them etc..And it seems like he ambushed his wife and her family and  killed them..

This is obviously a young man turned into a psychopath in the army..

I wonder how many murders can be related to the psychology effected in the army in Turkey.

And if we knew the exact number, would people still support the idea of compulsory army?

If someone spends more than a year being trained to kill or be killed, of course it must affect them.  Some people are more affected than others and are unable to ´switch off´.  This young man wasn´t a psychopath but he was obviously extremely mentally unbalanced by what he´d seen and done. He may have  had psychiatric problems before he went into the army (do they test for this before the boys start their service?).  Whatever, it´s a tragedy but thank God every ex-combat soldier doesn´t act like this.  Sad

You know how much I HATE to disagree with you H......BUT.....

I think we should know a little more about his state of mind before the military before making this assumption.  I am not saying that the military didn´t push him over the edge, but perhaps he was always a bit off?  In any case, I think this just goes to show you that in many countries (including the US) very little is done to help our military personel with the aftermath of being exposed to so much violence.  Perhaps this could have been prevented if he was "debriefed" (for lack of a better term) for a period of time before and after his service.
