Önce yemeceğim o zaman işe gidiyorum. I will eat first then go to work. I am really looking to understand and apply the use of "then" in Turkish, just as we use it in English.

 Yes, if you will go straight out to work as soon as your meal is finished.

 

Yemek yiyip işe gideceğim implies the second is immediately following.

sonra işe gideceğim implies the second will happen sometime soon after the first, but you might stop to catch your breath in between!
