Hi

I am moving over to Turkey in a few weeks to work as an accountant, I have a basic understanding of the language and can carry a conversation i was just wondering if anyone would be able to help me with accounting terms and phrases?

I have the following so far, just want to check they are correct (i´m pretty sure debit isn´t) and know if anyone could give me any more?

Debit bankamatik
Credit kredi
Prepayment ön ödeme
Accrual tahakkuk
Profit kâr
Loss kaybı
Profit after tax vergi sonrası kar
Profit before tax Vergi öncesi kar
Expense gider
Direct Costs doğrudan maliyetler
receipt makbuz
Account hesap
cost maliyet
EBITDA FAVÖK

Thanks in advance!!

I am not an accountatnt but I know some.

as for debit, only in "Debit card = bankamatik kartı" otherwise "debit=zimmet"

Profit before tax = brüt kar

Profit after tax = net kar

Receipt = makbuz or alındı

Expense = gider or masraf

Loss = zarar (not kayıb)

EBITDA (never heard of it)

And some more from my memory:

VAT = KDV

ÖTV=Özel Tüketim Vergisi (special consumption tax)

Money withdrawal = para çekme

Accounting = muhasebe

Accountant = muhasebeci

Cash = nakit

Cash advance = nakit çekme (money withdrawal from an ATM using a credit card)

Ahh thank you so much that is very helpful!!

EBITDA is just an abreviation for Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation - bit of a mouthful hehe

Thanks again!!
