A LAW on obligatory chemical castration for paedophiles convicted of rape and perpetrators of incest, passed in parliament last September, came into effect tonight in Poland.

Under the law, anyone convicted of rape of a minor aged under 15, or a close family member, "can be obliged by a court ruling to undergo pharmaceutical and psychological therapy in order to reduce sex drive," after having served a prison term.

Before making a ruling on the appropriate therapy, a court must consider the opinions of psychiatrists, sexologists and psychologist.

Under the law, prison terms for rape of a minor or incest have also been increased to three to 15 years from the current two to 12 years.

The new law introduces prison terms of up to three years for anyone convicted of attempting to seduce a minor under 15 over the internet.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk first raised the controversial issue of chemical castration for convicted pedophiles and perpetrators of incest in September 2008 after a 45-year-old man was charged with having raped and held his 21-year-old daughter captive for six years.

The woman gave birth to two children, in 2005 and 2007, allegedly the result of having been raped by her father.

Good idea all in all but I´d vote for cutting their private parts off with a rusty knife. I´ve heard chemical castration lowers sexual drive but does not make one unable to commit that crime.

The names don´t sound Polish at all. I´d say they sound English or Irish? When I saw the thread title I though you wanted to express your outrage at what Polish Parliament passed recently - a bill stating that rapists dabbling in incest and paedophiles will be chemically castrated if the evidence of their crime is proven beyond doubt

edit:

Just Googled your news and it concerns Northern Ireland, not Poland. You know, Poland is a bit eastwards and it´s not an island

hah, dear I confused everything when I say u hereCool

a turkish song for u:

I love you
I love you, I love you
Do you love me, yes I do
If you love me tell me, tell me
If you love me kiss me, kiss me

O güzel gözlerini gördükten sonra
Aşık oldum birden tutuldum sana
Seviyorum seni sanki deli gibi
Öldürecek beni bu kara sevda

I love you, I love you
Do you love me, yes I do
If you love me tell me, tell me
If you love me kiss me, kiss me

Senden başkasını düşünmez oldum
Eridim mum gibi sararıp soldum
Ümitsiz aşkının esiri oldum
Öldürecek beni bu kara sevda

I love you, I love you
Do you love me, yes I do
If you love me tell me, tell me
If you love me kiss me, kiss me

Günlerce bir ümit bekledim senden
Kararsızım dedin hep kaçtın benden
Gülmedin yüzüme bir kere olsun
Öldürecek beni bu kara sevda

I love you, I love you
Do you love me, yes I do
If you love me tell me, tell me
If you love me kiss me, kiss me

forever DJ:XXX

that´s a good thing - psychotherapy and (probably) an SSRI therapy to reduce sex drive. it´s actually a standard psychiatric treatment that is not a castration.

but anyway, where did your interest in Poland come from? {#emotions_dlg.you_crazy}
