Oh, how sad. I´m amazed there has been so little discussion about this tragic situation. It is a beautiful train station. It looks like it will be restored. I certainly hope so.

On the Dutch news it said that the roof had been destroyed, but it was a bit unclear on other damages. Can a local-reporter tell me the state of the building at the moment? I love that building.

Yes, just the roof, but they are promising to restore it to its original state ....
To be honest, I think it is sad that most of the building is empty or used for transport officials offices. It would be nice if one floor could be opened up as a museum to the Orient Express era, or for a really nice restaurant. That way, we could use the building rather than just pass through in a race from ferry to train!

I think there is already a museum in the building dedicated to the railway history... I also watched a documentary about Haydarpaşa station on TRT where they were also celebrating a wedding inside the monument!! ...A nice restaurant is a great idea.
Get well soon Haydarpaşa!!
