it is definetely "yemek yemeyi", because here the word is the event of "yemek yeme" (eating), not the verb "yemek yemek".

Similarly it is,

Gülmeyi seviyor. She likes smiling (NOT Gülmeği seviyor)

Dans etmeye gidiyoruz. We are going for dancing.

etc etc etc

I think in old times it was also said "yemek yemeği", "istemeği", "gülmeği" etc because sometimes I see these in the old books. But this is not valid anymore.

(I think in Azeri language they also use like istemeğe)
