Turkish Children´s Team Championship 2011
23.04.2011 – There is something wonderfully charming about young children playing chess – devoting themselves to a single task with all their concentrating and energy. The Turkish Chess Federation claims that today 2.25 million children are playing chess. Of these 288 from 46 clubs to take part in the Turkish Children´s Team Championship for children under eleven.

The Turkish Children´s Team Championship U-11 took place in Kemer (Antalya) from April 12th to 17th, 2011. This year 288 players from 46 clubs took part in the event, a big increase from the first children’s league, which was organized by the Turkish Chess Federation last year and attracted 165 players from 26 teams. After the start of the program "Chess in Schools" a few years ago, thousands of young chess players have appeared all over the country. The statistic of the TCF shows that the number of children learning chess from 2005 until 2010 has increased to 2,250,000 (two million, two hundred fifty thousand).
