I think I am going to give it a try:

Life is strange: sometimes people who you believe to be so high that you cannot crane enough to reach them may actually be so low that you cannot stoop deep enough to reach them.

Quoting Abla

I think I am going to give it a try:

Life is strange: sometimes people who you believe to be so high that you cannot crane enough to reach them may actually be so low that you cannot stoop deep enough to reach them.

Great! Meaning is spot on! It just sounds a little bit "stilted".

Change "crane" to "stretch", as crane doesn´t work in this context.

Then you could just make it flow a bit better:

Life is strange: sometimes people who you thought were so high up that you cannot reach them may actually be so low that you cannot stoop low enough to reach them.

Or:

Life is strange: sometimes people who you thought were so exalted that you cannot reach them may actually be so low that you cannot stoop low enough to reach them.
