İ have no idea where weird smilie came from - please ignore.

The weird smiley comes up whenever you have a dotted vowel or a special Turkish letter followed by a bracket. If you use square brackets it doesn´t happen.

Example  (yürü and [yürü]

A small observation regarding your recipe´s title in Turkish.

I would guess it should be

Kuru Domatesli Ekmek (Bread with dried tomatoes) as the sun-dried tomatoes are the major flavouring ingredient for this bread.

I noticed styles or types of bread take the possessed suffix, while breads with a major flavouring ingredient do not, they just use the ´ile´ suffix on the major taste ingredient.

Köy Ekmeği = village bread

Lavaş Ekmeği = lavash bread

Mısır Ekmeği = cornbread

Peynirli Ekmek = cheese bread

Cevizli Ekmek = walnut bread

Domatesli Ekmek = tomato bread

Also, ekmek yapma makinesi = bread making machine

An interesting remark, Henry. But don´t you think this difference in form is a result of what the combination is made of:

mısır ekmeği (noun modifying noun makes a compound, the latter word in the queue takes 3rd person possessive suffix)

peynirli ekmek (adjective modifying noun, no changes in the modified).

But now that you mentioned it, isn´t it strange that mısır ekmeği is not like demir kapı (the first noun tells what the second one is made of)?

some more thoughts about your recipe ingredients,

cup = su bardağı

teaspoon = tatlı kasağı = tk

tablespoon = yemek kasağı = yk

So for your ingredients (malzemeler)

1 large egg = 1 büyük yumurta (although egg size is rarely specified)

1 1/4 cup warm water = 1 1/4 su bardağı ılık su

2 tbsps white sugar = 2 yk şeker

2 tbsps powdered skim milk = 2 yk süt tozu (yağsız)

1 1/2 tsps salt = 1 1/2 tk tuz

1 1/2 tsps basil = 1 1/2 tk kurutulmuş fesleğen

(I have not seen reyhan written in any Turkish recipes)

1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes = 1/2 su bardağı güneşte kurutulmuş domates

2 tbsps olive oil = 2 yk zeytinyağı

3 3/4 cups of bread flour = 3 3/4 su bardağı ekmek unu

1 1/4 tsps yeast = 1 1/4 tk maya

(yaş maya is also used for dry yeast, as opposed to fresh yeast)

My Turkish friend suggested she would use your words like this:
Siz makineyi kullanirken herzamanki yönergelere uyunuz.
Tava pişirmede bütün malzemeleri sırayla koyunuz.
Tatlı ekmek ve normal ekmek kabuğu programlarını kullanınız.

Çok teşekkürler.

Curious:   İs metric not used in Turkey?

Note: İn Canada we have to teach metric in the highschools and then everyone goes home and uses imperial (cups, tsp and tbsp). {#emotions_dlg.you_crazy}
