Hello/Merhaba fellow Turkish learners!

I would like to give you a brief introduction of a Turkish school for foreigners that I represent, Türkçe Atölyesi.

When I say that we provide ideal lessons in Turkish I am referring to our methods, with which we take the background, profession and need of the student into great consideration so that the learning experience is as fruitful as possible. Our teachers have years of experience teaching, seeing to that there are German psychiatrist, American military personnel, Chinese engineers and many many more now speaking Turkish fluently and using it in both their daily and professional lives.

Also, our definition of ideal is based on an amount of students not too high, so that our students do not loose valuable time to practice their Turkish, but at the same time not too low, so that the pluralism of the students themselves can be used by both classmates and the teacher to get a rich and stimulating experience.
Additionally, we would be unwise not to mention that we appreciate foreigners´ taste for Turkish Tea: thus it is, just like our learning material, free of charge .

If you have any questions, please contact us:

Here is some information about us from our website:

Türkçe Atölyesi, is in Asmalımescit, one of  the  most historical, accessible and lively areas of Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district. The centre was established with the aim of offering foreigners the chance to learn Turkish, a language with a very different structure from most Western languages, in the best possible way.

Our  main  reason for setting up this centre was that we felt the need for a different method of  teaching Turkish from  those that have been used until now. We believe that teaching methods should be prepared with the mathematical structure of Turkish in mind, making the most of the teachability of this mathematical language. With our system you will see that with very few grammatical rules you can create a great variety of meaning, and you will discover that every new grammatical rule that you learn is part of a very logical and understandable structure, something that will help you to understand the language as a whole.

In order for us to our work as teachers, we aim to ensure that our students to use their study time both in and out of class in the most enjoyable and productive way possible. Our school is both spacious and homely and is in the ideal location for students to discover Turkish culture and soak up the magical atmosphere and cultural mosaic of the city, as they look out on Istanbul’s historical peninsula and Beyoğlu’s lively landscape.

the spam queen says congratulations on your school and like most schools that are cropping up you show no real background , credentials or knowledge of  actual teaching on your website.Just a whole lot of tea and smiles........

Who approved and recognized the teaching method you are using?

Do you all have teaching creditials? A few pictures of a party and someone sitting in front of a book is not enough for me to spend my hard earn dollars on a gamble.

How long has your school actually been active? How many students have gone through your programs and with what success level?

good luck

acute, I knew you would show up sooner or later.

But think about this. The advertiser introduces a mascara which will make your lashes 300 per cent thicker. Ignoring the fact that with 300 per cent thicker eyelashes you wouldn´t even see in front of you you go and buy the mascara, don´t you? Why are you so critical when someone promises you are going to learn a language?

It´s a game that we play, acute.

Good consciense is for sale like everything else. We feel if we use a certain amount of euros for a good purpose we are closer to the goal without giving it our effort, without giving it our heart.

Actually I feel for these language school people. We pay for having our hair cut or car oil changed but except high expertese to be free. What do you expect them to promise you in this world of thicker eyelashes? They are trying to make a living.

Dear Abla, I am not saying schools dont´ teach you anything or they should not exist. But I am also aware of" hey I don´t have a job and can speak english and turkish lets sucker some foreigners by making a school". Many just steal and use what material they can find on the internet or in books from other schools with no real structure or program that has been thought out or even looked at by any education facility. I did not say this particular school was bad. I asked questions to substantiate the creditbility of this particular school. I have spoke with people here on TC who started part time teaching schools as a way to keep the money flowing while times are tough. And yes perhaps some of these ideas will work. But when a person pays to travel to Turkiye and wants to learn the language, I will warn again and again, against most of these methods and schools. It will give them what they can find already for free on the internet. Many times people takes these course and find after they are disappointed in what they have paid for and learnt. I want to hear from the real people that have taken them are happy with the quality and skill of the school. I realize some people learn slower than others but to me this course seems geared to someone who is already living in Turkiye and needs enhancement which I am sure they can find in a coffee shop.

Abla also you are here getting free advise and help for turkish and not paying for it why would you comment on this . Silly lady!

first thick lashes  will cost me less than going to a school for a 1 to 3 months to learn a language. Second this is like comparing apples to horse´s and a horse will eat the apple quickly.

Let  turkceatoylyesi supply more information to give his/her school more appeal.

Dear Acute,

I find your caution and suspiciousness just, as what you describe certainly is a real-life situation for many people who come here with good intentions and leave with an empty walet and no sense of the Turkish language.

Let me give you some more detailed information about our school. It has been up and running for 2 years, founded by teachers who broke loose from one of the most successful schools in Turkey, that is in the field of teaching foreigners Turkish. For obvious reasons I will not give you the name of that school, and neither will I blame if you do not take my word for it. What we do to make sure that every student feels safe before deciding to engage in business with us (because that is really what it is, is it not?), as opposed to handing out a grammar test to place the student in a certain level and then haul them into class as some of our competitors do, is granting a free introduction lesson, where we want the student to get a sense of our environment and teaching methods.

Also, as far as the education of our teachers is concerned we have a linguist with a bachelor´s degree from the prestigous Ankara University and five years of teaching Turkish at the school mentioned earlier. That means students from a range of every thinkable profession: various consulates, holdings, hospitals, master´s students, CEOS - you name it. In addition we also have a teacher with a bachelor´s in Turkish Literature, sharing almost an identical background as her colleague. Our last teacher is in comparison with the others inexperienced in terms of actual language teaching (2 years), but has prior to that several years of practical experience with teaching mentally disabled children. She is a prodigy, adored by her students and developing her knowledge of the language for every day that passes.

Our material is our own, and one of the reasons why we are so fastidous about not sharing it, in fact keeping it inside the classroom as much as possible, is that we have put a lot of effort into making it ideal.

Acute, at our school your first thick lashes would constitute yourself being coached by one of our teachers while struggling with the rare and intricate feature of vowel harmony in Turkish in one of our introduction lessons. And if you did not like what you got at the end of the class, you would leave with a full walet, a belly full of delicious tee and no offense taken or given.
