Hey,

Does any of you know if there is a yearly big major belly dance festival in Turkey?

May I know who is organising?
Date of the festival?
Any websites, where I can find more information?

Thanks.

No, it doesn't exist yet, but soon there'll be a weekly oriental dance contest on one of the TV channels I'm sure the selections will pass very rough. There'll be thousands of people in the queue.

This is a dilemma...
Most of turkish people(99.9%) wants his daughter not to be a belly dancer, but usually like watching any other one...
Biz buna ikiyüzlülük de deriz bazen
Hypocrisy or what?

The turkish women are always ready to stand and start to do belly dance. All of them (fat or old) think themselves as a belly dancer. Who is Shakira? There're thousands of them here
(and I like to do it as well )

When I see it in "those people"s eyes, I think it's different because in one you do it to entertain "the others" (men), but in the other you do it to entertain yourself, and also you have to wear very brave costumes if you're a belly-dancer.
But according to me it's another type of dance, and as every dance it has art and aesthetics in it when you do it really well because there're a lot of cheap belly-dancers around who just shake their fat. But I appreciate very much the ones that can do it very well.
