Hi

Any guesses as to why Marmaris/ Turkey in general is so quiet? do you think it might have a lot to do with the football season or a combination of the bird flu?

Any comments!

Laura

I think it's not a very popular and well-known touristic area. They need more advertisement.

Marmaris is one of the biggest tourism places in turkey its probably up there with Bodrum and Antayla - its full every year only this year is very very quiet compared to all other years..but i have since found out that they are hundreds of flights to Germany for the footie - That might explain it.

I have been home from BODRUM 1 week, i stayed for 2 weeks and have never known it to be as quiet as what it was. Quite a lot of irish people were there and said, they thought Turkey had gone expensive, especially the drinks? it wont put me off going back, as ive booked for Sept.

I was in Bodrum a couple of weeks ago as well and it was very quiet and not as I thought it would be, but all the same I still had a nice time

As the others said it could have been a combination of both the bird flu and the football season that kept most away.

That is certianly not the case in England.....
Most people I know who have not visited Turkia only know Marmaris and Istanbul!
