Ağlayarak içeri girdi = He came in crying [= He was crying as he walked in]

Çok çalışarak zengin oldu = He became rich by working hard.

                     Amiral Emmo derhal asılarak İstanbul´a gönderildi.

When was the man executed?

-arak  suffix functioned as -ıp sonra here as two actions [being hanged and being sent ] are taking place in different times. Therefore;

He [Amiral Emmo] was hanged [executed] immidiately and [afterwards] he [his dead body] was sent to İstanbul.

Amiral Emmo asılarak derhal İstanbul´a gönderildi.

If "derhal" was just before İstanbul then the sentence would be changed into ;

  Amiral Emmo [his dead body] was sent to İstanbul immidiately after he was hanged.

I thought I found an exception but it seems I didn´t. In any case the action of hanging took place before sending, not afterwards. (Needless to say I thought he was hanged in Istanbul.)

Thanks, Heydi, tunci.

If the sentence was ;

Amiral Emmo İstanbul´a gönderilerek derhal [orada] asıldı.

or

Amiral Emmo derhal İstanbul´a gönderilerek [orada] asıldı.

then we will have "poor" Amiral Emmo hanged in İstanbul.

what are up to Abla ? Studying history ?

Sort of.

But somehow it is amazing that the place of his death is hidden in those small suffixes.
