I like to add dates to mine. I think it enhances the sweetness without making it too sweet.

Chestnuts are exceptional ingradients, but they involve hard work. Try a few first, if you want to be convinced.
Note: chestnuts need to be boiled and throuhly peeled (the brown outer hard jacket and the inner skin) before they are added to the pot. Keep them whole, if you can manage it.

actually, this time I did not use lentils. Here is what I did:
white beans
garbanzo
barley
basmati rice
figs
apricots
piloncillo, which is hard unrefined sugar. I like it because it´s healthier & has a soft taste.
walnuts
almonds
mulberries aka dut
cinnamon
rose water
pomegranet seeds
salt and water
I don´t measure anything, just what looks right. I leave the piloncillo in until the sweetness preferred is reached.
Alameda, I didnt know that you can put lentils in it green lentils ?

Yes, I´m sure they are a delightful addition. Next time I´ll have to add them. Thanks for the tip.
