I see verbs like korkmak, çekinmek which according to the dictionary govern ablative often used with dative:

                            ?İnsanların yüzüne bakmaktan/bakmaya korkuyoruz

                            ?Çocuklarımı övmekten/övmeye çekiniyorum.

How come?

"bakmaya, övmeye" sound to me more natural but nothing wrong with the other version.

Try to to use it with QWs:

Neden/niye korkuyorsun?

Neden/niye çekiniyorsun?

Neden <-> from what (this is about a cause)

Niye <-> to what (this is about an outcome)

It seems that WHY has two dimensions also.

A question that starts with "neden" expects the responder to report the "cause".

A question that starts with "niye" expects the responder to report the "result".
