Ηello, can someone explain to me the usage and the differences between   ´´dir´´ and ´´ den beri´´?

Basically

...../den beri (since) is used where the action is still continuing (iyor)

....dir (for) is used for a specific period (X hours/days/weeks/months/years)

The suffix "-dir" has many tasks. One of them is to express the meaning of "since, for".

Indeed, "beri" means "closer side, nearer side". If it is used together with ablative case, it means "since, for".

You can use both of them if the beginning point is not clear.

If the beginning point is clear, you can´t use "-dir", you can use just "-den beri".

üç (three), yıl (year)

üç yıldır (for three years) | the event/situation has started three years ago and it has been continuing. But we can´t know when it started definitely.

Üç yıldır Türkiye´deyim. (I´m in Turkey for three years.)

=Üç yıldan beri Türkiye´deyim.

-->He has come to Turkey three years ago and hasn´t left yet. But we can´t know exactly when he came. For instance: In 2010? or 2011? or another else??
