Herkese merhabalar bir sorum var

facebookta gördüm ki, birisi dedi ki "kardeş sayfamiz olan Osman Ali sayfasını hepimiz bekliyoruz"

My question exactly is, what are the different usages of "olan" and what does it mean in that sentence above? I keep seeing different ways of it being used and I don´t get it. Can someone clear my confusion please? Thanks in advance.

Not that you asked, but;

facebookta gördüm ki, birisi dedi ki "kardeş sayfamiz olan Osman Ali sayfasını hepimiz bekliyoruz"

"facebookta gördüm ki, birisi dedi ki" sounds strange. "Facebook´ta birisi dedi ki" is better. Don´t you think?

"I´ve seen on Facebook that someone had said that ..."

or

"Someone on Facebook said ..."

Yeah that sounds better. Sometimes I translate too much word for word when it comes to the way I speak my engish. That has to stop cause it comes out awkward sounding in turkish lol

The suffix -en/-an makes the verb an adjective. This suffix shows the relationships of the situations and the people/things. The tense is unclear. It is understood later.

olmak (to be)

ol+an----------------------->olan (that is ...)

kardeş (sibling : brother or sister)

sayfa (page)

kardeş sayfamız (our partner page)

Osman Ali sayfası (the page Osman Ali)

kardeş sayfamız olan Osman Ali sayfası (the page Osman Ali that/which is our partner page)

____

satmak (to sell)

bilge (monk)

Ferrari´sini satan bilge (the monk who sold his Ferrari)

olmak, meydana gelmek (to occur, to happen)

Japonya´da meydana gelen kasırga (the storm that has happened in Japan)
