Merhabalar! I am posting another Fikret Kızılok song, but this one has nothing to do with Atatürk. It is called "Gözlerinden Bellidir," and it is from 1972, I believe. A friend and I have each translated the song, but we are neither experts, so we don´t know who has come closer to the song´s real meaning. So, I offer up my version for your critique. Please help us.

My attempt:

Bir güzele gönül verdim -- I fell in love with a beauty.
Sararıp soldum -- I grew pale and wan.
Gâhi uslu gâhi deli -- Sometimes sedate, sometimes crazy,
Dolanıp durdum -- I wandered and I stood still.

Ne gecesi ne gündüzü bellidir -- Neither its nights nor its days are certain.
Günleri çok, yıl desen ellidir -- Its days are many. If you say a year, it is fifty.
Bir güzele gönül verip sevenler -- Those who fall for and love a beauty,
Sözde değil gözlerinden bellidir -- It is clear not in words but from their eyes.

Geçti ömrüm yollarında -- My life was spent on the road.
İhtiyar oldum -- I became an old man.

I guess the first obstacle in the translation is 

Gözlerinden

Gözler + in + den  = from your eyes

Gözler + i + n + den = from his/her eyes

Gözler + inden = from their eyes

Although, after reading the lines, the use of sevenler would suggest your translation makes sense.

My attempt:

Bir güzele gönül verdim
I offered a beautiful heart.

Sararıp soldum
I turned pale and faded.

Gâhi uslu Gâhi deli
Sometimes well behaved, sometimes insane.

Dolanıp durdum
I was continuously wound .

Ne gecesi ne gündüzü bellidir
What is day and what is night is obvious.

Günleri çok, yıl desen ellidir
So many days, a design of fifty years.

Bir güzele gönül verip sevenler
They are the ones who give a beautiful heart and are loved.

Sözde değil gözlerinden bellidir
No words, it is obvious from your eyes.

Geçti ömrüm yollarında
My life has been passing.

İhtiyar oldum
I am ageing.

Dost uğruna bu günleri görenler
Friends, for the sake of those who are seen.

his/her makes sense. so their=his/her (gender-neutral possessive pronoun)
