Want to learn some turkish history? Why not start with some of the things most turks wont tell you?

To be a real, typical, nationalistic, brain-washed turk, you MUST learn to deny the armenian genocide and alter history. Again, this is a MUST. You must also learn to hate the greeks.

If you come across any news article or anything containing the words "armenian" "greek" "genocide", you must deny everything and spam hateful comments.

The be more knowledgeable in turkish history, let us start at the young turk government. The young turks led a revolutionary movement to overthrow the authoritarian sultan abdul-hamid and establish a constitutional form of government. They had to "turkify" the ottoman empire which meant eradicating the christian minorities, including the armenians, assyrians, and greeks. From the entire armenian population, 70% (about 1-1.5 million) were murdered with inhumane ways. About 500,000 greeks and assyrians were also massacred.

As an educated turk living in the united states, i can tell you that 90% of the turkish population will believe their government when it comes to this topic. Ive lived in turkey and remember my school´s history books saying ridiculous things about what happened in 1915.

I cannot speak about this in front of my family and friends as I would probably be disowned. I dont want to bring about any hate towards my people on this site but i just want other turks and people who want to learn about turkey to know the truth. Until today, my government and people continue to cowardly deny the genocide and go so far as to ask for peace between armenia and turkey without admitting what they did, unlike the germans. They use their position as a nato ally to stop the united states and other countries from recognizing the genocide. Nevertheless, many coutries including canada, germany, france, russia, and other majors do indeed recognize and pressure turkey to do the same.

Sorry for the long post but I hope you all will see the truth. Do a quick google search and read up if you wish to learn more.

And your point...... Wow I guess you feel better getting that off your back. This is pretty juvenile behavior on your part, to think this will do any good on a Turkish learning site. Most of the people here are trying to either learn Turkish or help people learn the language. If they wanted to learn about Turkish history it is available on other sites. I just want to further add that no civilization/country/religion is or has been formed without deaths. Instead of whining about one particular group you would be better to take a stand about present day  situations, wars, genocides, poverties etc. What has happened in the past whether acknowledged or not can not be changed. Let it go and spend your time and energy either helping what is going on in the world today. We don´t need rants about the past we who can read are priviledged with finding this knowledge out ourselves with out prejudices..... Now go and enjoy your life, freedom of speech and do some good in the world. {#emotions_dlg.flowers}

"Genocide" is a law term clearly defined by UN in 1948.

Lately a Greek Minister commented on it:

http://www.ekathimerini.com/203099/article/ekathimerini/news/minister-assailed-for-comments-on-pontic-genocide

Here is a quote:

Appearing on a late night TV show on Star on Monday, Filis defended previous comments he had made about the killings, arguing that he still believed they were a case of ethnic cleansing even though Greece has officially recognized it as genocide since 1994, designating May 19 an annual day of remembrance.

“This does not mean that we do not recognize the blood, the pain, everything the Pontic Greeks had to suffer due to the beastliness of the Turks,” he said. “But this is something different from genocide in the purely scientific sense.

Last word:

Turks were not found guilty of any "Genocide" in any court as per defined by UN. That requires some international trial at a court. So far no such thing.

The Turks made genocide all over the world.

The Turks made genocide of the American Indians. The Turks took the Hiroshima atomic bomb. Turks invaded Iraq in 2003 and killed 1.5 million Iraqi people.

Turkey has made African colony. The Turks killed 1.5 million people in Algeria.

The Turks killed 6 million Jews and 500 gypsies in germany.

Turkey had committed genocide against Bosnians in sreprenisa.

Turks killed Epirus-Chameria Albenians.

Turkey, 1 million people were forced to migrate in Karabakh.

USA, Germany, France, Britain, Greece, Armenia, Russia etc. All are genocide in the history of this country.

These replies are exactly what I expected.

I never stated nor implied that no civilization/country/religion has been formed without deaths. Every country has its dark side, and even continues to expand it. How can one take a stand on all modern wars, genocides, and poverties without acknowledging specific ones from the past? Turkey was unpunished for its crimes, which inspired Hitler, who executed all those Jews. Im apaled at your ignorance and your pety suggestions. Who says I dont take a stand on modern day issues? And who says Turkey´s century of denial is not a modern day issue? Who says Turkey´s gag rule on other countries is not a modern day issue? You see, you are correct when you say things that "happened in the past whether acknowedged or not can not be changed". The past can never be changed, but its acknowledgement can. And when people like you say to let it go, is exactly why i stand against my own country and people on this subject.

There are simply larger powers at play, my friend.

From your article: "Israel imports 40 percent of its oil from Azerbaijan and exports a considerable supply of weapons and defense systems to Baku."

Of course for some countries, like Israe and the US, its politics over humanity.

Amazing. Nice article from some unknown news source. Even if this was quoted in the NY Times, youre just taking the Greek minister´s words over the words fof the entirety of Greece and several other countries and millions of people

Please dont search with confirmation bias. Youre only looking for things that argue your side. Ive taken the side of my own government and did some extreme researching to try and change my point of view. It didnt work out too well. Maybe I shoulve done what you do and blindly look for arguements defending the cowardice of the turkish government.

Oh, so the term "genocide", clearly defined by the UN in 1948, doesnt apply to what happened in 1915 because there hasnt been an international trial, ok gotcha. It´s funny because the term "genocide" was coined by Raphael Lemkin to describe the, previously used, "crimes against humanity" of the ottoman empire against the armenian people.

There has not been any international trial so far. Key words: so far

I hope you can change your stance and accept our country´s crimes and denial by breaking free from being blindly manipulted by turkey. It might be hard, and it was very hard for me, but I see it now.
