Reklam!

I´m listening to a station and before every commercial, they say ´Reklam´. It just seems so different. I´m thinking what would it be like if English stations announced ´Commercial´ before every commercial.

Is this a recent thing? Is it only Turkey that does this?

Don`t know about English stations but in polish stations also they are saying " Reklama" before. Kinda habit

I think that´s so polite, I think they would do that in 1950s America when TV first came out, "And now for a word from a sponsors..." Often the host of the TV show themselves would be in the Commercial promoting say a cigarette. I´m cool with that pre-warning Reklam. Youtube helps avoid those ads, but I´m sure Turkish housewives are grateful for the reklam to have an excuse to go to the kitchen and prepare another cay or burek.
