PUNCTUATION MARKS - NOKTALAMA İŞARETLERİ :

 

-Full stop, period - nokta

 I like Turkish.

 

-Comma - virgül

 Because Turkish is a poetic, mathematical, musical language. I speak Turkish, English and French

                                                                                                        

 -Semi-colon - Noktalı virgül

 I don´t often go swimming; I prefer to play tennis.

 

 -Colon - Üst üste iki nokta

 You have two choices: finish the work today or lose the contract.

 

 -Hyphen - kısa çizgi

 This is a rather out-of-date book.

 

 -Question mark - soru işareti

 Where is Shangri-La?

 

 -Point of exclamation, exclamation mark - ünlem

 "Help!" she cried. "I´m drowning!"

 -Quotation marks - tırnak işaretleri

"I love you," she said.

 

 -Apostrophe - kesme işareti

 This is John´s car.

 

 -Round brackets, Parenthesis - parentez, yay ayraç

 I went to İstanbul (my favourite city) and stayed there for two weeks.

 

 -Square brackets - köşeli parentez

The newspaper reported that the hostages [most of them French] had been released.

-  Ellipsis - yan yana üç nokta

 One happy customer wrote: "This is the best program...that I have ever seen."

- Emdash - uzun çizgi

 In each town—London, Paris and Rome—we stayed in youth hostels.

- Oblique/slash - sağa eğik çizgi
