I was wondering, what do teachers in turkey do in the summer holidays? Do they work in seasonal jobs or just have a long holiday?

Thanks. x

Hi,
I'm a teacher for ten years and eight of it was in Turkia. About %60 of teachers in Turkia have a second job for the whole of the year. So yes they do work on their second job during their holidays. Depending on their field they work in all kinds of jobs. Taxi driver, salesperson, sign painter, musician, photographer are just some to name a few.

I am an American teacher- I am fortunate enough to win scholarships to travel the world in the summer.

But, I know from experience, most teachers do not get paid much money to teach in the school year- so summer is an opportunity to supplement wages- in any field. Most teachers work so hard to make ends meet.

It is unfortunate that teaching is perceived as such a profession devoid of intellectualism ........

I am a teacher in Poland and I've been on the job for 7 years. here teachers either get an extra job in the summer (lots of them go to work in the UK) or splash out on holiday. The latter type is me! I have two jobs during a school year (three this year) so I don't have to work in the summer. However, if I had to live on just the state salary, there's no possible way I could ever afford holiday. I guess teacher's life is hard everywhere...

Daydreamer you right - we have hard work and life but we always may remember about it:

"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
