Using verb stems as suffixes to other verbs

I looked up "talking" in my dictionary and, as expected, it listed konuşma as a noun but also listed -konuş as a suffix. I assume that when used as a suffix it is typically applied to other verbs, but how can you use a verb stem like this???
Can some one please give a few examples of using verb stems as suffixes of other verbs - and can all verb stems be used like this???
Would this be correct grammar?
- Türkçe istekönüşÃ¼yorum - I want to talk Turkish
I know that sentence would normally be Türkçe konuşmak istiyorum but I want to understand verb stems as suffixes.

- Türkçe istekönüşÃ¼yorum You can not say this.
There is a related suffix to this as follows; "-den söz etmek"? I do not know a verb that can be used as a suffix.
For example : Burada ki herkes dilden söz ediyor = Everybody here talks about language"
I hope this helps.

Thanks - but that doesn't really answer my question......
I am looking for an example of using the suffix -konuş
In this thread -ivek(mek) was used as a suffix. But I am not sure this is the same sort of usage!

At that link, there is no suffix such "-ivek". it is -ivermek
koşmak >> koşuvermek
gitmek >> gidivermek
dönmek >> dönüvermek
uçmak >> uçuvermek
I think there is no suffix like you said -konuş, i have never heard, or i couldnt remember for now. If you have an idea about it, or an example, maybe I can remember.

As you see, this is not a suffix, this is the root of the verb konuşmak

Thanks to you both caliptrix and Erdinç
Just to clarify.....-ivermek is a suffix, not a verb?

Hi Bod,
I believe you are English and you seem to be getting on with your Turkish at an amazing rate.
Can I ask how you are approaching your studies. I have found since doing it more seriously it's not as enjoyable and seems to throw up more and more contradictions.
Appreciate some guidance
Jo-Anne

Yes, I am English - I live in the north wesy of England. I started learning Turkish November 2005 so have been learning for a little under a year.
You ask an interesting question - I think it might be better to answer in a seperate thread......find it here
