Hi all
I am travelling to Istanbul in ten days time and have been trying to find out information I what I can and cannot take with me, I am travelling from Heathrow and understand that I cannot take any sprays perfumes powders or anything with liquid or soap based items in my hand luggage, is it best to pack these items in my main luggage that gets checked in? it is very confusing I do not want all my toiletries and perfumes to leak into my case, any views on this anyone?

One advice I got from a nice lady at the check-in counter: when you take a beauty case as hand luggage, make sure there are no sharp objects in there, such as scissors, razor blades, nail clipper.. That would be asking for trouble.

Elisa
I looked on the website of BAA Heathrow and it said that these items such as perfumes and soaps powders were not allowed on board as hand luggage following the recent terror threat a month ago in the U.K. I am very confused maybe I will just pack them in my checked in baggage

You DEFINITELY CANNOT take anything liquid at all in your hand luggage. All items such as toiletries, toothpaste and even lipstick and lipbalm (not that you will want lipstick Rich!) have to go in your suitcase. However....once you are through customs and baggage check, you can buy these items in the departure lounge/duty free area and put them in your handluggage.

By the way, you can take electronic stuff again now - laptops, mobile phones etc.

Thanks dear very much I hope you are well I was really confused as to what to take and not. I like my calvin Klein and have some other nice perfumes I also have some for Nesrin. I will pack them in my case and just hope they not break. Take care Della

Wrap them in bubble wrap Rich - then keep the bubble wrap and use it to wrap any wine or spirits you bring back ! By the way, if you smoke, you can only take safety matches (no lighters).

Just a suggestion, if you do want to take any kind of facial or handwash, obviously you can't take liquids. However you can take wipes! So you can leave the plane feeling fresh and invigorated
