Hi all,
Having looked at teaching jobs in Turkey I have now been advised that I need a university degree to cover most of the teaching positions unfortunately I have not got one and I am increasingly looking for other job areas for me to work in Istanbul. I move to live with my girlfriend in June/July 2007 and want to find some work before I arrive. I have looked at call center work and my use of my English language for other areas. Would love to hear from anyone who is in the same position or have been in the same position as me for advice and some help. I have looked into most areas of work.

Illegal english jobs are plentiful in Istanbul. Honest they are. Walk though Sisli above the metro and you can find many english schools that will hire native speaking, un-degreed people. And since its illegal technically, they probably pay them less.

I was thinking about the tourist industry as well - what about tour guides? They must be needed for English speakers with all the cruise liners that come to Istanbul etc.

Yes this would be a very good job and you would be very busy juring the summer but when it comes to the winter it will not be such a good job.
This may help you
