| Description: |
Camel wrestling used to be widespread in Turkey but is now mostly confined to the Aegean region - where there is a Camel Wrestling League! Camels are specially bred to wrestle and are very expensive. The actual wrestling is pretty boring and it´s very hard to tell which camel has actually won each bout! - but it´s an interesting day out with lots of atmosphere, barbecues and traditonal music and the rakı flows like water! Not something on the normal tourist trail but worth a look if you get the chance. |
