Mustafa kemal Ataturk born 1881 in Salonika (now Thessaloniki, which was otterman empire). At 12 years old he was sent to military school in Istanbul and graduated in 1905.

May 1919 - Ataturk began a nationalist revolution in Anatolia organising resistence to the peace settlement imposed on turkey by allies

1921 - he established a provisional governement in ankara

1923 - Turkey became a secular republic and Ataturk was the president. (the 1st president of turkey)

1935 - surnames were introduced in turkey. he was given the surname Ataturk - which means ´father of the turks´

10 November 1938 was when Ataturk passed way at 09:05 in Dolmabahce palace, istanbul
