Hatırlayış The Recollection

Ölüler ülkesindenim ben,
Parlak ışığıyla alnımın;
Oyulmuş gözlerime bakın
Yalan atmasını bilmeyen !

Hatırlayış

Ürkek yapraklarında bu mahzun sonbaharın,
Ölüm şarkılarında uğuldayan rüzgârın,
Üzüntülü toprağın yer yer sönük yüzünde,
Mevsimin günden güne kısalan gündüzünde,
Akislerle beraber yaşlanan aynalarda,
Geçen zamanlar gibi kayıp aşinâlarda,
Hicret eden kuşlarda ıztırabı izlerken,
Alâkasız görünüp hüznümüzü gizlerken,
Verimsiz tarlalardan kaldırılan son mahsûl
Ve tâze mezarlarda rızık bulmakla meşgûl
Böcekler arasından hatırladık sizleri;
Sükûnetle bekleyen siz soluk benizleri !

I’m from the land of the dead,
With my ever-shining forehead;
Look deep into my carved eyes
Where there aren’t any tricks nor lies !

The Recollection

The fearful leaves of the saddened autumn,
The songs of death of the howling storm,
The colourless face of the wistful earth,
Daytime which is oblidged to shorten,
The aging mirrors alongside our reflections,
Lost acquaintances like friendly minutes,
The scenery of the immigrant birds,
Which we pretend to take no notice of but we can't,
The last harvest from unfruitful farms,
And the hungry bugs moving on the graves...
These all remind us of you
Oh you,silently sleeping pale faces !
