“QUIET RESISTANCE – Pictorialism in Russian Photography” is the first exhibition of Istanbul Modern Photography Gallery. Olga Sviblova, Director of Moscow House of Photography Museum, is the curator of this exhibition which will be open between February 13 and May 25, 2008.

"QUIET RESISTANCE – Pictorialism in Russian Photography" is composed of works of contemporary artists who influenced each other and “rediscovered” in Russia in mid 90s. The photos exhibit a segment from the development of Russian art and the cultural history of the country at the beginning of the 20th century.

The works are selected from the Moscow House of Photography Museum collection. The exhibition includes 194 vintage prints taken by 18 famous Russian photographers such as Alexander Rodchenko, Sergei Lobovikov, Alexander Grinberg, Yuri Yeremin and Aleksei Mazurin. The works extend from 1898 to 1940s.

This unique exhibition can be visited until May 25, 2008.

Interesting post. I will try and make it during my next visit.

Even more of a coincidence, I was reading Vivienne Westwood's Manifesto when I saw your post. The title of her Manifesto is Active Resistance . I don't know if you are interested but here it is:
