what does;

 

"to temp for 8 years" or "to be temped for 8 years"

 

mean?

 Is it in relation to work?  If so it probably means they were temping in different jobs for 8 years, this means they were employed, but not on a permanent basis and with the benefits that go with a permanent job, but employed as a temp, under temporary employment, and were probably sent to different places of buisness as an office worker by an agency to work for short periods of time.   Temp is short for temporarily or temporary

 

so to temp for 8 years would mean to be in temporary employment for 8 years

I dont know how to say it in Turkish, sorry

 

but temp = Temporary/temporarily = geçici olarak
