When I next go to Turkey I would like to thank the maid for cleaning our room. My attempt at this would be:

odamızı temizliği için tesekkür ederim

Please correct as necessary

It would help if I spelt teşekkür correctly!

should be:

Odamızı temizlediğin için teşekkür ederim...

Odamızı temizlediğin için teşekkür ederim.

Thanks kurtlovesgrunge and jeth. Does temizlediğin make it past tense where temizliği is present tense or is temizliği just completely wrong?

My understanding as a learner is that this sentence means -

I thank you for our room that you cleaned

temizlemek = to clean,

temizlediğin = (an adjectival clause) meaning: that/which you cleaned

Thank you Henry, you may be a learner but you obviously know a lot more than I do! There is so much to learn it´s knowing where to start. I am going through the lessons on here and trying to translate E to T for myself and other people´s T to E. I am very interested in grammar and want to understand how and why a word/sentence/phrase is constructed rather than just learn hundreds of words parrot fashion. Your link is very useful and I will try to absorb that knowledge. In the five days I have been a member of this site I have learnt a lot so it´s been very useful to me.

I find this part of grammar the most difficult to grasp.

I think you´ll find your Teach Yourself Turkish book extremely useful when it arrives. 

Thanks sonunda, the book is due to arrive on Tuesday so I aim to get stuck in straight away! I thought there might be an explanation on the Manisa site so thanks for pointing that out.
