First Trip to Istanbul

by clhyman (12/16/2009)

It felt as if we walked the whole of Istanbul. One of the first things I noticed was the cats. They were beautiful! And very well fed. I had to take a photo of them. My companion looked perplexed as I bent down to get the perfect angle for photographing the kitty. There were many people out walking and everyone looked nice and smiled and  I smiled back. We saw Topkapi, Mosques, Churches, Galata, and the Bosphurus. Every single structure was wondrous.  There are no words that can define the beauty. Simply no words. For such classic structures to be preserved so well is a testament to the ingenuity of the Turkish people in maintaining that these pieces of architecture be around for the whole world to see if they so choose. It was truly remarkable.  But even as I loved the images I saw, I also loved the hospitality and kindness of the people.

And upon my impending departure... I wept. Because I knew I had to go back to my routine. The cyclical routine that is life. Work sleep eat pay bills...repeat.  In Istanbul I was able to see beauty  and wonder and experience feelings never known to me before. Istanbul had awakened in me a most adventurous spirit! The adventure will not end I told myself. As long as I am in the world...I will see Istanbul time and time again..

It is my wish..and I will make it so....
