It might have been described before, but i feel the need to tell my way of thinking about the wonderful sensation that being a tourist in Turkey gives you.
I will talk about feeling that the world is at your feet and that everything moves around you for the time you spend there. And that is because of Turkish love for people, for communication and for knowing other cultures.
When you go on holiday to Turkey, you must be prepared to understand their way of being and to love them for it.
Another thing you must be ready to embrace is “trust”. Trust in people, in services, in authorities, in whatever has to do with your stay in Turkey.
Parting from the way you are welcomed to the hotel to the way you are treated in restaurants and bars, you get the impression that everything is made just for you. That is something you will never find in other countries in Europe.
I was very surprised to see the availability of Turkish people to get involved with foreigners. I was once told “You are on holiday, you should have a great time, you MUST be happy and we are here to make that happen”. And you don’t pay for this, it’s just their way of being friendly.
Further along you get to see how people really have fun in the street bars that make you go to sleep way passed 4 a.m. The most quiet day is followed by the wildest night. It’s amazing how after a work day they still find the energy to have fun, to feel alive. And all that out of love for tourism and for tourists and maybe because they know how to make commerce. But who cares when music, lights, drinks, dancers and the unique atmosphere make you lose yourself. In a positive way.
So i want to thank Turkish people for being open-minded and friendly, for knowing how to make the most out of life and for giving us the opportunity and the honor to know them.
