I don’t know if you have noticed, that nouns do NOT have gender in Turkish, we don’t seperate them as “feminine” and “masculine” like in French, Greek or Arabic. There isn’t “gender” concept for Turkish nouns, so adjectives do not change their forms when they describe the nouns. If an adjective is going to describe a noun, it must be “before” the noun, likewise at “beautiful home.” This structure is same in Turkish too, adjective comes before the noun. Let’s see it.
"güzel" means beautiful, nice. "ev" means "home" in Turkish.
We say beautiful home as "güzel ev" in Turkish. In Turkish, FOR ALWAYS the adjectives come before nouns, because they describe NOUNS.
güzel ev : beautiful home
uzun yol: long way
büyük bina: big building
By the table below, you can learn some most-used adjectives of Turkish.
And, some nouns that we have used throughout the lessons:
And, there are some adjective clauses at the table below:
Read the table carefully. It is too easy, isn´t it?
Colors are adjectives, too. Let´s remember the colors:
And some adjective clauses with colors and some nouns:
And, numbers are another important adjectives of Turkish. Let´s remember the numbers:
bir ev: a house iki ev: two houses üç ev: three houses ....
As you see, nouns don´t meet plural suffix when they are more than one.
bir yeşil ağaç: a green three
iki kırmızı ev: two red houses.
you can add "tane" word to cement numeric meaning:
"tane" (or adet) means "....in number"
Üç tane: three in number (üç adet) , dört tane: four in number (dört adet)
iki tane kırmızı ev, bir tane yeşil ağaç
