This is used just in the 3rd person´s shape. It can´t be conjugated for other people. If you want to emphasize the person, you should use the personal pronoun as well.

 

dün (yesterday), gece (night), uyumak (to sleep), rüya (dream), görmek (to see)

rüya görmek (to dream (direct: to see a dream))

 

uyu+r uyu+maz------>uyur uyumaz (as soon as sleep)

 

Dün gece uyur uyumaz rüya gördüm. (I dreamed last night as soon as I slept.)

 

ben uyur uyumaz (as soon as I sleep/slept/etc.)

Ben uyur uyumaz ışığı kapatırlar. (They switch the light off as soon as I sleep.)

"...r ...mez" is in an individible group together with the personal pronoun.

Uyur uyumaz rüya gördüm. (I dream as soon as I sleep.)

Ben, uyur uyumaz rüya gördüm. | It´s better to use a comma but you also can write "Ben uyur uyumaz rüya gördüm". No difference.

 

maç (match), başlamak (to start, to begin), elektrik (electric), kesmek (to cut)

 

başla+r başla+ma+z

başlar başlamaz

maç başlar başlamaz (as soon as the match begins)

 

kes+l(passive)+mek----------->kesilmek (to be cut)

 

Maç başlar başlamaz elektrik kesildi. (Electric went off as soon as the match began.)

 

durmak (to stop (intr.)

dur+dir+mek------------------>durdurmak (to stop (tr.))

dur+dir+l+mek---------------->durdurulmak (to be stopped)

 

Maç, başlar başlamaz durduruldu. (The match was stopped as soon as it began.)

Maç başlar başlamaz durduruldu. (1The match was stopped as soon as it began. 2It was stopped as soon as the match began.)

 

telefon (phone), açmak (to open), kapatmak, kapamak (to close)

 

aç+l (reflexive) + r (pr. simple) aç+l+maz-->açılır açılmaz

kapa+n(reflexive)dı+- -------------------->kapandı (it closed itself)

 

Telefon açılır açılmaz kapandı. (1The phone closed itself as soon as it opened itself. 2It closed itself as soon as the phone opened itself.)

Telefon, açılır açılmaz kapandı. (The phone closed itself as soon as it opened itself.)
