I want to translate this as:

That he neglected to have general check-ups for a long time .....

What´s the correct translation for "planýna aldý" ? (it can´t be "he took to his plan" )

Does "epeyden beri" mean the same as "epeydir"? (One was in the dictionary, the other wasn´t).

Epeyden beri bir saðlýk kontrolünden geçmek isteði aklýna geldi. Ancak bir türlü iþten fýrsat bulamamýþtý.

I want to translate this as: The wish to have a medical check-up came to his mind. However, ..., he couldn´t find an opportunity.

I´m not sure how to translate: "epeyden beri" and "bir türlü iþten" so it would make sense.

 Why can´t we use the verb I used?  I was going to use üzgünüm but decýded to check the dictionary first.  Is yours better or just another way?
