There is no need to kick up a fuss really! I just wanted to repeat my words, if you are pretty , men will stare at you and why all the fuss about Blonde women in Turkey? why do you think you cant walk on the street peacefully only because you are blonde? come on! that just shows you feel different and consider yourself something special when you are not because there are many TURKISH blonde girls too such as the ones with bulgarian ancestors so why should you feel scared as if you were something unique?
Just enjoy the city and recognize that a bit of attention is something women like from time to time, it is like one ego-boost and please dont tell me it is not true !
Cheers!

Dilara, please be aware of what's behind this "attention" before you decide to boost your ego this way. Those men don't have respect for those women - you should hear how they talk about them.

I must tell you about men who look and then get caught looking. While in Fatih in Istanbul 2 of my students both tall, blondish Americans were walking ahead of me. I was able to watch the expressions of people as they observed the girls. One man obviously staring at them realized that I was with them and he actually apologized rather profusely.Very honorable thing to do.
My grandfather always said that as long as men have eyes they will look.

What you are saying is that this "looking" is actually BAD, disrespectful, degrading. While it's good that he apologized, nonetheless, don't forget that he actually did something that was bad enough that it needed to be profusely apologized for! Just because it's ubiquitous, doesn't make it any less horrible (rather more).

It's men's world we live in dear. What is common is not what is normal or healthy or necessary.
Even though many people may argue that this degrading thing - "looking" (in reality: treating women as sex objects to be used for titillating men) is harmless, I think that this attitude is at the roots of all mysogyny and disrespect for women overall.
