Quoting MelekUK: However, I think if a woman chooses to wear things which are a little more revealing, of course she will get more people looking whether it's her intention or not. |
+1. And...equally..if a man were to walk along the street wearing just a thong, he would get comments and attention too.......

each girl or woman a big treasure of the society, while there are aware of their big wealth, and i think a real woman or girl never get any trouble with the sick minded and hungry eyed men....thats never possible to think a complete or happy soicety with unhappy or problemed females,so we all have to do our bests for make better women rights, but i think most of women busy with the problemed men for enlarge their abilites or own rights..

Quoting aenigma x: I agree to a certain extent but also feel that if women don't want to be treated as an object - then don't act like one!! While I firmly believe women should wear whatever they want to, I also notice that some women are just as bad as men in judging THEMSELVES on their appearance and competing to look the sexiest !!
If you think of yourself as an object, so will men
(Sorry Catwoman, it's true) |
Of course that's true. Women and men live in the patriarchy and both are brainwashed with the same ideas - 'that women are there to titillate men'. Some women see it as an extra asset, some kind of sexual control over men, which is really a big illusion of power because not only this woman is an object in the eyes of such men (that they have no intention to respect), but also because for these men, she is one of very many.
Since there is practically only one kind of message women get regarding their bodies and sexual roles, I think it's easy for most women to get trapped in it. Yes, unfortunately women allow this cycle to continue, but they always have an inferior role, so I think that men still commit a bigger crime in a way, because they disrespect and degrade others (not themselves). The fact that in some circumstances they seem to be only taking advantage of an available object doesn't make their behavior any less justifiable.

Yes, and I think this is really deep problem which cannot be solved just from one side. All countries have to act against it and in a determined way, just making laws are not enough.
I've recently watched a documantery about prostitution of the eastern women in Turkey, legal prostituton is allowed in Turkey (which has some advantages), but there're thousands of women who work illegally and the govenrment and police do not do so much about it. In Istanbul, all the bars which work prostitutes illegally are known by the police, the police make their "regular controls" to these bars but they just leave these bars after 15 seconds, all the prostitutes hide until they disappear, but that's all. I think it's like this in other countries as well. There's huge toleration about this which make this exploitation system continue.
If you know french, documentary is here:

But it does not say like this in this page:
"Prostitution is LEGAL in Canada, most all of Europe including England, France, Wales, Denmark, etc., most of South America including most of Mexico (often in special zones), Israel (Tel Aviv known as the brothel capital of the world), Australia, and many other countries. It is either legal or very tolerated in most all of Asia and even Iran has "temporary wives" which can be for only a few hours! "

Ouh! Interesting - I didn't know that !!! I have checked it it seems it is legal in principle in the UK, but soliciting, running a brothel or "pimping" are illegal. Basically you can be a prostitute in the privacy of your own home!
You learn something new every day!!!

There're restrictions to prevent the exploitation of the women, but I think it's seen a kind of freedom, but I don't think that it's still legal in the privacy of your own home. I don't know other countries, but in Turkey, there're special houses in the control of the government, and you can just work in those houses, you get a speacial card from the government, and you're registered, you can even get retired , you're checked regularly against the diseases.
